The radio collar that XPL-57 fitted in August 2010, was damaged explaining why she could not be traced. She was fitted with a new GPS collar worn by her mother before.
The lioness the donkey about 15 km from Sesfontein in the nocturnal hours downed. The owner of the donkey and three other men last Wednesday the track of the lion followed for about 9.6 miles until they found her.
Conservationists and Stander tirelessly to find the cubs still in their mothers drank, but could not find them. It is thought that they are eaten by spotted hyenas itele live in the area.
The meat of the lioness was apparently eaten by the inhabitants of Sesfontein.
